Merry Christmas from Adoption Choices

The holiday season has finally arrived, and all of us at Adoption Choices of Arizona want to wish you a very Merry Christmas! For a lot of you, this year hasn’t been very easy. Whether you went through the adoption years ago or you’re still struggling to decide whether or not you should pursue it, Adoption Choices of Arizona seeks to support their birth mothers throughout every step of their personal adoption process. Adoption can be seen as a taboo word among certain crowds, but at Adoption Choices, part of our duty to our birth mothers is to help them view adoption in a very positive, admirable way. The Christmas season is filled with the theme of giving, and through adoption, as a birth mother, you are giving your child one of the greatest gifts you can give: a family and home that can provide for them. Adoption takes great humility and love for your child, and this Christmas, we want to make sure that you are recognized for your choice to go through the adoption process as a birth mother. If you’re a birth mother who is still deciding if you want to place your baby up for adoption, here is an overview of the adoption process that we hope will guide you as you make this important decision.

If you need adoption help now, please call or text us at 1-480-900-5520 or visit us at Adoption Choices of Arizona.

Adoption Isn’t the End

A common misconception that some birth mothers may have is that after their child has been placed with their adoptive parents, they won’t be able to stay in their life. This may have been true years ago, but adoption has become very open in more recent years. As you look for adoptive parents for your child, you will be able to decide whether you want to enter into an open, semi-open, or closed adoption with the adoptive family. In an open adoption, you will be able to meet up with your child in person on occasion and communicate with them openly. They will understand who you are and your own personal cultural values. Open adoption is a great way for you to remain in a good relationship with your kid even after their placement. However, many families prefer to enter into a semi-open adoption, which still allows for some communication between the birth mother and their child, but there aren’t usually frequent in-person visits. If you choose a semi-open adoption, you will be able to send your child letters or maybe emails and communicate with them through more indirect methods. In a closed adoption, you won’t be able to communicate with your child or their adoptive family at all after the adoption. However, you don’t need to be afraid of “ending up” in a closed adoption. If you want to enter into an open or semi-open adoption, just look for an adoptive family that is looking for the same type as you.
