Placing my Baby for Adoption Late in Pregnancy

At Adoption Choices of Arizona, we get a lot of questions from birth mothers late in their pregnancy. Many parts of the adoption process can take some time, so how is that affected by the process starting only a couple of weeks before the birth of your child? Are there still financial resources available? What about transportation? Do you still get a say in what family takes your child home at the end of the day? Although a late adoption does change some of the details, you can still put your baby up for adoption in Arizona. Read on to learn a bit more about what an adoption late in a pregnancy could look like for you!

If you need adoption help now, please call or text us at 1-480-900-5520 or visit us at Adoption Choices of Arizona.

Choosing a Late Pregnancy Adoption

“Raising a child is easy!” said no one ever. Unfortunately, there are myriad reasons why you might not be ready to raise a child. We’ve seen teen mothers who simply aren’t emotionally prepared to raise a child in any way. Many people facing poverty fear they just won’t have the funds to raise a child. If you’re not sure if you can handle raising a child at this stage in your life, adoption can be a great option for you. It’s best to consult friends and family at times like these. Adoption can feel like such a big decision, so other people can bring welcome perspectives if you’re feeling nervous. They can also offer emotional support during a tough time. Also, remember that adoption is a huge opportunity for the families waiting to adopt a child. They must get a home study done, pay fines, and make multiple court visits to become eligible. All of this so they can get a chance to adopt a baby. There’s no way to become an adoptive parent without being sure you’re ready for a child.

How to Give Baby up for Adoption Late in Pregnancy?

If it’s the last couple of months of your pregnancy, it can be hard to imagine even trying to sort out an adoption in that short of a time. However, Adoption Choices of Arizona can help you sort out the details in record time.

First, you will want to give us a call or fill out our contact form online. From there, we can set up the first meeting and talk about your options at one of our adoption agencies in Phoenix, AZ, or anywhere in Arizona. Next, you will meet with one of our lovely adoption caseworkers, and they’ll help you sort out what your options are. It’s possible you’ll take care of the baby for a month or two, so we can finish the adoption process, but we can help you with fiscal resources to make sure that won’t be an issue for you. With our years of experience helping mothers just like you, we can help you build a quick and seamless Arizona adoption plan

What Are the Different Types of Adoption and How Do They Work?

No matter when you’re choosing adoption, you’ll still have a choice of one of the three types of adoption. These are open adoptions, semi-open adoptions, and closed adoptions.

Open adoptions involve identifying information being shared between you and the adoptive family. You know each other’s names and contact information. These are a great option if you want to stay in touch regularly with the adoptive family. The child will still belong to the adoptive family, but you can still be involved in their lives. From studies, we’ve seen and the experiences of adoptive children, having supportive birth parents and supportive adoptive parents helps them feel loved.

Semi-open adoptions involve restricting some amount of information between you and the adoptive family. For example, maybe you know the family’s names, but not where they live or their social media. As opposed to sharing info openly, you might communicate through a third party. These are good for parents or families who wish to leave the adoptive family to raise their new child.

Closed adoptions mean that no information is shared. You likely won’t even know who the adoptive family is in some cases. While most mothers prefer a semi-open or open solution, you are still free to let us make the call if you would prefer. We’re all about options at Adoption Choices of Arizona.

Joshua BouletMeet the author: Joshua Boulet is an aspiring journalist and writer with a particular fondness for research and social sciences. He loves music, writing, reading, video games and most art, and anything creative he can get his hands on. Boulet believes that there’s too much good stuff out there and not enough time to see it all. He grew up on video games: the classic Sonic the Hedgehog games, Mario Kart, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and Legend of Zelda. The music of rhythm games led him to an interest in that, and the investigative journalism of Jason Schreier inspired him to discover the importance of journalism as an industry. That interest in developers’ lives led him to an interest in social justice and how the world could maybe be made into a better place. “All this to say, there is certainly a line I can draw between me obsessively playing Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and me interviewing my sociology professor about how to read academic articles. Those surprising through lines fascinate me all the same. At my best, I’m a person who gets to be constantly fascinated by the lives and work of other people.” His favorite quote is from his favorite jazz musician: “A genius is the one most like himself” – Thelonious Monk.
