Adopt My Baby: The Types of Adoptions

In Arizona and throughout the United States, we offer three separate types of adoptions, open, semi-open, and closed. One of the most common types of adoption is an open adoption. You and the adoptive family will have identifiable information about each other and share contact information. We can help you get pictures and videos of your child with or without their adoptive family. In a semi-open adoption, you can keep more distance from the adoptive family. Identifiable information may be limited to respect everyone’s privacy. While in a closed adoption you will not have any contact with them after the birth. Whichever is right for you, we’ll make sure you get the care you need.

Choosing an Adoptive Family

Counselors at Adoption Choices work with you to choose an adoptive family you feel is right for your child. Whenever you’re ready, we can help arrange meetings with the adoptive family of your choice. No matter the family, we make sure to screen and interview every family to make sure they’re ready. We have years of experience planning successful adoptions and making matches. If you’re still unsure about the families we recommend, we can bring more options for you to choose from. Just know that all of our recommended families have everything they need to raise your child safe.

Finding a Perfect Adoption Hospital Plan

We know you’re probably anxious about the thought of going through labor. The pain is tough, and the sterile décor may not provide an ample distraction. During the months before your due date, we can show you a variety of options for your hospital stay. Have people you need to be in the room with you? We’ll make sure they get there. Want your favorite photo to look at? Consider it done. Does heavy metal music help you cope? You ask, and we’ll add it to the plan. We will also make sure you have an advocate ready at the hospital and help understand any paperwork that will need filling out on the day of. With our years of experience, we’re pretty good at getting ready for your due date.

Last-minute Adoption Options for Birth Mothers

Even up to 72 hours after the baby is born, you may still be able to drop off your baby under the Safe Baby Haven Law. This law allows you to drop off your baby at select locations shortly after birth. Please talk to one of our adoption caseworkers to learn more about it. We’ll come to your hospital room and help you figure out all the details. You may even be able to still choose the adoptive parents and make an adoption plan before you leave the hospital.

Adoption Options for LGBTQ+ and Teen Parents

Here at Adoption Choices of Arizona, we welcome all birth parents and are happy to provide our services, this includes LGBTQ+ adoptions. Teen mothers need adoption assistance the same as any parent. Our counselors can provide both financial and emotional help to make sure you are able to live your life even as it seems like life is going crazy.

We are also proud to serve the LGBTQ+ community and are happy to provide our services. We think that LGBTQ+ parents should never have to worry about discrimination. Your experience is meaningful to us, and we can help provide the help you need.

Joshua Boulet Meet the author: Joshua Boulet is an aspiring journalist and writer with a particular fondness for research and social sciences. He loves music, writing, reading, video games and most art, and anything creative he can get his hands on. Boulet believes that there’s too much good stuff out there and not enough time to see it all. He grew up on video games: the classic Sonic the Hedgehog games, Mario Kart, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and Legend of Zelda. The music of rhythm games led him to an interest in that, and the investigative journalism of Jason Schreier inspired him to discover the importance of journalism as an industry. That interest in developers’ lives led him to an interest in social justice and how the world could maybe be made into a better place. “All this to say, there is certainly a line I can draw between me obsessively playing Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and me interviewing my sociology professor about how to read academic articles. Those surprising through lines fascinate me all the same. At my best, I’m a person who gets to be constantly fascinated by the lives and work of other people.”

His favorite quote is from his favorite jazz musician:
“A genius is the one most like himself” – Thelonious Monk.
